The Toy Museum of Catalonia has created the Senior Club, offering “Active Summer”, a program that encourages discovery, relaxation, and play for older adults experiencing unwanted loneliness. Coordinated with the RBEC of the Ernest Lluch and Joan Maragall Primary Care Centers in Figueres, the summer club runs over ten weekly sessions, each guided by two museum mediators and a guest arts-in-health specialist, with active support from RBEC. In summer 2025, the second edition welcomed 15 participants, who actively engaged in games and activities, enjoying opportunities to socialize and build new connections.

El Museu s’Apropa is a program of artistic activities organized by museums in the Apropa Cultura network and held in residences for older adults. The project was born in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, when the isolation of older adults living in care homes—and their limited access to cultural life—became evident. Through this project, museums bring art to the residences, organizing art workshops for seniors. The activities of El Museu s’Apropa create opportunities to elevate mood, stimulate cognitive processes, enhance interpersonal relationships, and enjoy aesthetic experiences, promoting a healthy life and good mental health. During the COVID-19 pandemic, the Barcelona City Council requested an emergency intervention from Apropa Cultura at four municipal care homes, using art to combat isolation, reduce sadness, and improve the mental health of the older residents.

La Dansa s’Apropa is a project by Apropa Cultura, in collaboration with the Barcelona City Council and Mercat de les Flors, that brings dance directly to senior residences in Barcelona. The initiative builds on the earlier project El Museu s’Apropa and was commissioned by the Municipal Institute of Social Services (IMSS) of Barcelona for four municipal residences: Josep Miracle, Francesc Layret, L’Onada Guinardó, and Fort Pienc. A team of choreographers and dancers — including Montse Iranzo, Claudia Solwat, Elis Genís, Toni Mira, Magdalena Garzón, Susana Pérez, Xevi Dorca, and Toni Jodar — visits these residences weekly to offer dance sessions aimed at improving mood, stimulating cognitive processes, and enhancing social connections. Participants have an average age of 85 and often face cognitive and mobility challenges.

The “A tocar” project is a series of concerts and workshops held in hospitals, penitentiary centres, and social-healthcare facilities in the Girona region. The aim of the project is to reach those who, temporarily or permanently, are deprived of the universal right of access to culture. By bringing music directly to people who do not have access to these experiences, the project provides opportunities for emotional development and well-being, fosters connections and empowerment, and helps improve the well-being and quality of life of participants.
