Dansa s'Apropa is a project by Apropa Cultura, which brings dance to retirement homes. The initiative is an evolution of the El Museu s'Apropa project and the result of a commission to Apropa Cultura from the Municipal Institute of Social Services (IMSS) of the Barcelona City Council for the four municipal retirement homes. A team of choreographers and dancers formed by Montse Iranzo, Claudia Solwat, Elia Genís, Toni Mira, Magdalena Garzón, Susana Pérez, Xevi Dorca and Toni Jodar, go to the retirement homes and propose dance sessions to these centers, with the aim of improving mood, working on cognitive processes and increasing interpersonal relationships. The recipients have an average age of 85 and often have cognitive and mobility difficulties.

Casellas's work speaks of mystery, of what remains hidden and what is transformed, and from this inspiration we offer an experience with a therapeutic intention and open to everyone. Throughout the talk, we will explain how artistic practice, through techniques such as painting, drawing, and sculpture, can activate different areas of the brain. Participants will have the opportunity to practice simple artistic expression exercises, allowing each participant to experience the power of art to calm the nervous system and promote self-care.
