Forest and Therapeutic Walk at Poblet Monastery: Psychological Intervention in a Natural Setting

Ariadna Casas, licensed psychologist and member of GT NIAT (Inclusive Therapeutic Activities in Nature, COPC), in collaboration with the Poblet National Interest Natural Site (PNIN), presents a therapeutic activity designed based on health psychology and evidence-based therapies. The program integrates emotional regulation techniques and psychoeducational interventions in natural contexts to improve mental health and well-being. Content and applied tools: - Shinrin Yoku (forest bathing): an environmental psychology technique shown to reduce cortisol, activate the parasympathetic nervous system, and enhance positive affect. - Mindfulness: a scientifically supported practice in clinical psychology to reduce stress, prevent depression relapse, and improve emotional regulation. - Therapeutic Qigong: body and breath work linked to psychomotricity and emotional self-regulation, offering both physiological and psychological benefits. Psychological objectives of the intervention: - Reduce stress and anxiety using tools that influence autonomic responses and emotional resilience. - Promote mental health prevention, reducing risk factors associated with anxiety and depressive disorders. - Enhance mind-body connection and neuroplasticity, supporting learning and psychological adaptation processes. Expected benefits: - Decreased perceived stress levels. - Improved subjective well-being and vitality. - Increased skills in emotional self-regulation and mindful awareness. Developed in collaboration with PNIN Poblet, this activity aims to contribute to scientific evidence at the intersection of psychology, mental health, and natural environments.

Casa Batlló Mindfulness

Casa Batlló Mindfulness offers a unique experience that combines mindfulness practice with the architectural beauty of Casa Batlló. Inspired by Jon Kabat‑Zinn’s (mindfulness expert) definition, this experience invites you to engage fully with the present moment, pausing to breathe, observe, and connect with your physical and emotional self to build well‑being and resilience. The event program moves through successive stages, combining breathing exercises, guided meditation, and slow, gentle movement in harmony with the building’s unique spaces: a grounding reception and breath regulation; a meditation on perception in the Noble Floor; lengthened, awareness‑deepening breathwork in the Inner Garden; a sensory walk through the Patio of Lights; Qi Gong and deep breathing on the roof to relieve tension; and finally, Walking Meditation on the stairs designed by Kengo Kuma, where breath and steps flow together, body, mind, and space united. Casa Batlló, with its symbolism, craftsmanship, and authenticity, provides a powerful setting for mindfulness. The values of resilience, curiosity, and presence resonate with Healing Art Barcelona’s aim: to strengthen health through shared creative, aesthetic experience.
