About Healing Arts Barcelona

20-26 October 2025

Healing Arts Barcelona is the first regional Healing Arts activation in Spain. From October 20–26, 2025, this dynamic week-long initiative will unfold across Barcelona and Catalonia and is led by the Museu Nacional d’Art de Catalunya (MNAC), the Jameel Arts & Health Lab, and the World Health Organization, with support from the Generalitat de Catalunya and /Salut. The event brings together institutions and professionals across health, culture, and policy to foster collaboration and drive systemic change. Rooted in research and community engagement, it aims to improve physical, mental, and social well-being through the integration of the arts into care and public health strategies.

Day 1: Opening Celebration

The MNAC will host the kickoff of a week full of events, featuring participation from political and institutional representatives, led by the Ministers of Culture and Health of the Government of Catalonia.

Catalan Health Institute (ICS), Museum

The Catalan Health Institute (ICS) and (MNAC) present the 2nd edition of the International Symposium on Arts in Health - an event bringing together professionals from the arts, culture, healthcare, and community development to exchange knowledge and explore the transformative role of the arts in promoting health and wellbeing.

Various locations

Activities across Catalan healthcare institutions, civic centres, care homes, third sector organizations, and cultural venues. Different clusters will be activated across Catalonia to showcase successful Arts in Health initiatives and to share methodologies, processes, and results

Thursday, 23 October 2025

Val d'Hebron, Barcelona, Hospital Campus

A major day devoted to advancing Arts in Health research, held in collaboration with the International Congress on Health Communication. This special event brings together global experts, practitioners, and researchers, focused on the application of the arts in health communication.

Day 5: Arts in Health in Practice

Friday, 24 October 2025

Catalan Region, Spain

Taking place across multiple venues in Catalonia, the day will feature mediators, creative therapists, artists, and healthcare professionals sharing methodologies and hands-on experiences in applying the arts to wellbeing and care delivery.
